Well our mid season break is nearly over (who thought 8 weeks would pass so quickly!). Along with testing, the JRD team has been busy continuing to re- fit the transporter which will be looking "a bit F1" inside by the time we get to Sandown on 23rd, 24th & 25th of this month.
We have also been busy preparing the cars for this meeting and it has been good to have Heathy over getting his hands dirty at the workshop.
JRD also made it into the pages of the UK's leading motor racing magazine Autosport last month (June 17 edition) with a story on the Sabre 02 and how there is real interest in getting the chassis developed for UK Formula Vee specifications for their 2011 season.
As alway if you are intending to come to Sandown for a look, please come and say hello. We are hoping to be in garages this time around so have a look for us there. It is sure to be a huge event with a full grid of over 46 Formula Vees entered, and with the best drivers in the country coming, Heathy and Daniel will have their work cut out for them.

Victorian Jmax karter Liam Morey took his first steps towards a motor racing career today when he stepped into the seat of one of JRD's Sabre 02's. Piloting the #32 Force Tools Sabre 02 Liam completed his full program and more with around 65 laps completed. Like his fellow Jmax karting compatriot - Brittany Hall who successfully tested with JRD earlier in the year, Liam is looking forward to another run with Junior Racing Development in preparation for attaining his CAMS license.

JRD gave the new Sabre 02 the very best launch any racing car could have on the weekend at Sandown with an emphatic performance which delivered pole position, a clean sweep of all races and a new lap record.
Daniel was unbeatable in the Sabre 02 despite being brought back to the field in every race due to safety car periods.
Also having a great weekend was Heathy at his first visit to Sandown. Heath showed great maturity as he reduced his lap times ever session and race.
JRD satellite driver James Simpson was clearly the next fastest car to Daniel on the weekend with podium finishes in all but the final race where gear selector gremlins ruined his fantastic return to the track.
The team now has an eight week break from racing in which time we will take delivery of our second Sabre 02, be testing a number of junior drivers in preparation for 2011 and evaluating a number of development parts for the Sabre 02.

JRD heads to our "local track" - Sandown this weekend for round 2 of the Victorian State Circuit Racing Championship. An exciting weekend for the team as Heathy goes into the round placed third in the championship after a successful first round at Phillip Island. Sandown will also see JRD debut the new Sabre 02 with Daniel Reinhardt behind the wheel. Recent testing has proved promising for the much anticipated car and with the launch of the Sabre on Thursday media and spectator interest will be high.

Junior Racing Development gave the all new Sabre 02 its first look at a race track today at the Victorian provincial circuit Winton Motor Raceway. It was a satisfying moment for everyone involved in the production and development of the latest evolution Formula Vee as the car made its way onto the circuit. Amid great interest, the shakedown was conducted by JRD partner and highly rated driver Daniel Reinhardt who spent the day bedding in parts and testing set up changes to guage how the car responded. A couple of minor teething issues were overcome and all sessions available to the team were completed with valuable data gained for the cars first race outing which will be at Sandown International Raceway on May 21, 22 and 23.

Unfortunately due to some late changes to the rear body section of the new 02 Sabre, JRD has been unable to test the car in the required time and have therefore withdrawn our entry for the first round of the 2010 Clememger International Freight Australian Formula Vee Series. This now means the car will have its race debut at Sandown on the weekend of 21, 22 & 23 May.

After a successful weekend at Phillip Island, JRD is preparing to go to Mallala for round 1 of the 2010 Clemenger International Freight Australian Series on 1st and 2nd of May.

JRD is packed and ready for the second round of the 2010 Victorian Formula Vee Championship being held at Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit this weekend.
With the weather looking to be somewhat questionable it will be an interesting weekend, however the team is confident of a good result given Heaths performance at Winton (particularly in the wet races) and his last round at Phillip Island which was held in very wet conditions.
With a field of 28 cars the racing as always at very fast Victorian circuit will be tight and the slip streaming will be fantastic to watch.
The team is looking forward to a great weekends racing and seeing some of our old and new friends down at the track.

JRD started the 2010 racing year with a positive outing at Winton this weekend. With drivers James Simpson and Heath Collinson both getting podium finishes over the weekend. James began in style by getting pole position and then proceeding to assert himself by taking out races 1 & 2. Heath having never raced at Winton before started race 1 from eighth position and finished 5th. In race 2 Heath was travelling well before he was taken out with a hit from behind at "Penrite" corner. Race 3 Sunday morning saw James encounter severe vision difficulties in the monsoonal conditions causing him to finish down the order while Heath faught back from a starting position of 18th up to 4th. Race 4 was held in dry conditions and while James picked his way forward from the back of the grid Heath was embroiled in a tight battle at the front. Having broken away with the leaders, Heath slipped into second place before being shuffled back to third. As James joined the front group he and Heath touched wheels which saw James go into a sickening series of barrell rolls. James emerged from the accident with some slight injuries but generally ok. The race finished under safety car and Heath picked up his first podium position in only his second race meeting.
JRD will now prepare for Phillip Island where we will be debuting the first Sabre 02.

Well the 2010 season has arrived. JRD is packed and heading off to Winton this weekend for round 1 of the FVAV club championship. Testing at Winton a week ago showed great promise as Heath dialled himself in after the summer break. The #31 has been fitted with the latest MoTec logger in line with the units being installed in the two new JRD Sabre 02 cars.
Racing gets underway on Saturday with two races. There are a further two races on Sunday.

All the team at Junior Racing Development congratulate Pierce Lahane on his win in the JMAX category at the 2010 Junior Top Guns Championship held at the Oakleigh Kart Club over the past two Friday nights.
Pierce will now have the opportunity to test drive one of JRD's Formula Vees at Winton in the not to distant future.
The JRD team attanded both rounds of the championship and came away impressed with the level of talent displayed in all categories but most particularly by Pierce and a number of other JMAX drivers.

JRD's two new Sabre 02's continue their production and are looking really good. Interest remains very high in the cars and available JRD seats for 2010 so if you are interested we recommend you get in touch soon as pre-season testing gets underway early in the new year.
Testing last Friday looks like it will result in another Sabre 02 hitting the track for the 2010 season. The car ran with the new MOTEC logger and dash installed for preliminary testing. Lap times on the day were again highly pleasing with both an experienced and a novice driver undertaking testing duties.
In other news, JRD will shortly be making a joint announcment regarding an exciting upcoming partnership, so stay tuned for that in the next week.
All at JRD wish our friends, supporters, drivers and their respective families a safe and happy Christmas.

JRD has turned in a sparkling performance this weekend at the final racing weekend for the year.
The Mauri Fordham Trophy was the coverted prize on offer at the Island Magic round at Phillip Island and JRD's own Daniel Reinhardt put on a stunning display of driving in the wet to to take out the final.
JRD's development driver Heath Collinson put in a weekends driving that made everyone at JRD very, very proud. Just one week after attaining his racing license Heath, in trying conditions that saw far more experienced campaigners caught out finished the final in 5th place.
